Build an Invested Team

Optometric Management, by Rebecca L. Johnson

  • Start with Vision: A good leader has a clear vision and the ability to communicate it to others in a way that they want to be a part of it.
  • Provide Job Descriptions: Most employees want to do a good job. Most often employees perform below our expectations because we have not properly communicated our expectations. Job description
  • Continue to Communicate: Role clarity is the first step in moving your team toward the same goal. In employee reviews and meetings, continue to emphasize the objectives of each employee and how his or her goals contribute to achieving the over-arching vision of the business to keep everyone on track.
  • Achieve Your Goals: Imaging setting a straight path to a destination, but every time you take 50 steps straight, you take one step to the right. Even though you are moving toward the destination, you will miss the mark. It is impossible for an organization to be successful when there isn’t clear alignment between its objectives and what employees spend time doing.

ultraSUN IIMany of Optical Dynamics lens products are well suited for warm tropical locations. The ultraSUN sunglass photochromic handles warm temperatures extremely well and is ideal for patients who spend a lot of time outdoors in sunny climates.  With our nanoCLEAR AR product, because of the way its processed, it is essentially impossible to induce craze in the AR stack. As a result, nanoCLEAR AR is damaged far less in boiling water and salt water tests than vacuum lenses, for a durable AR coating in coastal locations.

Be Sure to Capitalize on all the nanoCLEAR AR System Capabilities

As a nanoCLEAR AR system owner, you have the ability to produce AR progressive lenses in office in under 90-minutes! Let your patients know that you have invested in the latest technology to offer the ultimate in customer service.  In addition to nanoCLEAR AR, you have the ability to offer nanoXT hardcoat, nanoGUARD extra tough hardcoat and nanoCHROME/FLASH sunglass mirrors. Strategies for New Hires

EyeCare Business

INFORMAL onboarding consists of employees learning about their new jobs without an organizational plan or written process. It may include job shadowing and knowledge exchange with key employees, mentoring and coaching with managers, and on-the-job training with existing employees.

Hello and welcomeFORMAL onboarding includes a sequence of procedures that take a new employee through the process of learning job tasks and office social norms. Activities can include: Web-based video orientations, e-tutorials, interval training planned so learning occurs at specifically planned junctures, team roundtables, and, finally, field experiences and product training with key vendors.

The most successful onboarding programs have one individual overseeing how the employee navigates the process, and all current employees are included in some of the activities. According to the SHRM, there are four elements that indicate a successful onboarding.

SELF CONFIDENCE in job performance, which effects organizational commitment.

ROLE CLARITY, making sure your new hire understands their role and expectations.

SOCIAL INTEGRATION, when an employee begins to establish healthy working relationships with existing employees.

ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE KNOWLEDGE, an understanding of your practice’s culture and how they fit into it. This is key to a new hire’s ability to support your principles, values, and mission.
